190 academic awardees that have proven their academic best in the 2nd Semester of SY 2010-2011 and the 1st Semester of SY 2011-2012 were given recognition on December 1, 2011 in a Recognition Program at the Function Hall of the DDC Practicum Center.
An amazing crowd of 340 composed of parents, students, and school officials inspired one another by their presence and the achievement of the students.
The program was enliven by the powerpoint presentation entitled “DDC Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow by the Academic Director, Dr. Maria Leah F. Villano and the College President and CEO, Prof. Miguel D. Soledad. It gave an account of the College, its history, achievements, challenges, initiatives and plans of the new president for the institution and its clientele.
Mr. Efren F. Elbanbuena, Assistant Secretary of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and an academic achiever himself during his student days, delivered an inspirational message challenging the students to continue to bring honor to their parents and the institution. He further said that the students’ academic achievement was a good start and the best preparations for their future especially that the new president has initiated a tweak in the school’s curriculum by the integration of entrepreneurship.
Medals were awarded to students who got the highest weighted point average (WPA) in the year level across all courses.
Medalists for the 2nd Semester of SY 2010-2011 were Elaine Jane L. Bioc- RadTech for the 1st Year level, Meccar Moniem H. Elino – Biology for the 2nd Year level and Honeylene S. Bersabal – Optometry for the 3rd Year Level.
For the 1st Semester of SY 2011-2012, the medalists were Yuri L. Hashiba - RadTech for the 1st Year Level; Grace Oporto – Optometry for the 2nd Year Level; Sharmaine T. Espinosa - Biology for the 3rd Year Level; Antoniette G. Ababon – Biology and Jeko Devron P. Samera – Biology for the 4th Year Level and Minette Lindy B. Maloles – Optometry for the 5th Year Level.
Certificates beautifully packaged in a holder were distributed by the President Mike Soledad assisted by Dr. Maria Leah F. Villano and the Program Chairs of the respective departments.
The program was capped with a “salu-salo” with the parents prepared by the Practicum Center Staff.
