A warm and windy weather greeted the Davao Doctors College (DDC) officials, faculty, staff and their respective families as they entered the instantly groomed Mintal Property, the venue of the College’s Family Day celebration on February 11, Saturday.
Initiated by the DDC President & CEO, Prof. Miguel D. Soledad, the first ever Family Day enabled the personnel to take a break from their hectic working lives and spend quality time with family and friends in the workplace. The day was a celebration of the bond of togetherness not only with near and dear ones but also with DDC’s community groups. Special mention for our Kapamilya, Board of Trustee, Dr. Rizalina Karis Mata, Mr. Raymund CS. Del Val, President and CEO of Davao Doctors Hospital together with Ms. Ging Somozo, DDH Marketing Department who joined us in the celebration.
It was indeed a day to come together and forge love, unity and cohesiveness. The occasion also provided the opportunity to thank our Providential God for the countless blessings endowed to the DDC family and to celebrate accomplishments as an organization. Several of the employees received certificates of recognition to their surprise.
After the Thanksgiving Mass, the day’s event “broke down the house” as the personnel, spouses and children perspired, stretched their muscles out, and showed their athletic prowess as they joined the fiesta games, Tug of War, Pabitin, Sack Race, to name a few, prepared by the DDC Human Resource organizers.
A first hand experience and an event to remember was the “Boodle Fight”, the Philippine Military jargon for a mess hall banquet where all food are piled into one big long table where officers and enlisted men alike eat with their hands as a symbol of camaraderie. For the DDC Family, it wasn’t a fight though because there was enough food for everyone. The boodle fight was a scene projecting strengthened family connectivity and the bond as one unified DDC family.
All well-regulated families set aside time for tea and bread and butter. So, the DDC family looks forward to regular annual Family Day celebration.
