Dr. Lily B. Babayen-on, Admissions Officer of Davao Doctors College and Program Coordinator of the DDC-Indonesia Partnership Program, flew to Indonesia for a 5-day visit in SMA Negeri 1 Subang on April 29 - May 3, 2010.
The educational trip was a sequel to the planned activities stipulated in the Memorandum of Understanding between Davao Doctors College and 1 Subang Senior High School.
Foremost in the itinerary was the conduct of Career Guidance to Subang Senior High School students and to SMA Negeri 1 Subang's partner schools namely: SMA Negeri 5 Bandung, Pribadi Bilingual Boarding School and SMA Negeri 5 Denpasar, Bali. The trip has introduced new cultures and wonders to the participants. The guided trips from Subang to Bali gave a view of the Indonesian educational system, school trends and practices as well as their customs and traditions. The natural wonders and the Sundanese and Balinese cultural productions kindled interest in music and arts.
This brief but wonderful trip ended with a successful impact – touching people’s lives and making a difference through what we offer. The trip was an avenue to expand one’s horizon, understand better our Asian neighbors, enrich cultural knowledge through firsthand experience and appreciate every moment of learning. How rewarding and enriching an experience to see how life is lived and how education is like in cities and countries outside our own!
Grateful acknowledgment is extended to Dr. Rizalina M. Pangan, DDC President and CEO for allowing this partnership to prosper, to Dra. Yulia Gantini,M.Pd, her staff and their Indonesian school partners for their cooperation to make this trip a success, to Vice-Consul F. Bernard Loesi of the Indonesian Consulate in Davao City and to SEAMEO-SEAMOLEC for paving the way to this partnership. Terima Kasih!
