The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.- Proverbs 27:12
The Administration and Business Affairs Office and the Human Resource Department facilitated a Disaster Preparedness Seminar last August 16, 2010 and an Evacuation Drill on the succeeding day. Highlights of the seminar included Fire and Earthquake preparedness. Resource speakers were Susan R. Madrid, Chief Trainer and Rebecca O. Lopez, Deputy Regional Director, Office of Civil Defense XI; and SFO4 Antonio C. Mariscal, Chief, Special Operations Group & HAZMAT Responders Unit, Davao City Fire District. About thirty employees from different colleges and departments attended the seminar. These employees also comprise the School Emergency Action Committee for SY 2010-2011. Moreover, approximately 534 students and 50 employees actively participated in the Evacuation Drill. Our gratitude to the management of AMA for allowing us to use their car park area as the evacuation site.
Good news! The resource speakers/evaluators gave a positive assessment of the evacuation drill. Though relatively prepared in case of a disaster, let us remain cautious and hopeful for a danger-free school campus.
