The Center for Career Advancement Program (CCAP) of Davao Doctors College is sponsoring a five-day Seminar-Workshop on Teaching Effectiveness on May 17-21, 2010 at the Audio-Visual Room. The training aims to enhance ones competency in teaching through an understanding of the ingredients that make up good teaching and develop skills in designing a syllabus as well as developing and implementing an instructional plan. 
 
Specifically the course will better able the participants to:
 
  • discuss good practices in education that supports learning;
  • analyze characteristics of students;
  • draw implications in analyzing students’ characteristics;
  • analyze parts of a syllabus and its contribution to teaching and learning;
  • distinguish goals from objectives and accept the role of objectives in developing and implementing
  • effective teaching and learning;
  • examine a process in organizing content;
  • revise the syllabus based on peer feedback;
  • identify different types of objective test and be able to write sample test based on the objective;
  • explore other ways of assessing learning;
  • relate the seven principles applied through ICT integration in education and demonstrate ICT
  • integration to improve the teaching and learning process;
  • integrate active learning activities to make learning fun;
  • relate the instructional events to effective instruction;
  • write instructional plan using Gagne’s instructional events;
  • demonstrate peer review using the clinical supervision process.
To facilitate this seminar-workshop are Dr. Celia T. Adriano, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs of the UP System and Dr. Evelina A. Majellano. The participants are requested to bring the following materials: reference materials for the course to be developed in this training, sample syllabus, test materials previously developed, other materials that will help in the development of the syllabus and instructional plan, internet ready laptop (optional).
 
A fee of P5,000.00 will be charged to cover for the expenses (meals, speakers’ honorarium, hand-outs, certificates) to be incurred in the conduct of this training.
